BAD RELIGION Guitarist Beefs With BRING ME THE HORIZON, Gets Roasted

Ageing, bespectacled scrotum and Bad Religion guitarist Brian Baker has lashed out at Bring Me The Horizon, calling them “arrogant” and “entitled” in a saucy back-and-forth with the band on Twitter. If you haven’t seen it by now, it all stemmed from the flyer posted backstage at a recent festival in Spain where both Bad Religion and Bring Me The Horizon were billed to play, with BMTH seemingly gaining a little extra attention from promoters. I'm going to stop these people every time I see them today and tell them how much their band sucks A photo posted by Brian Baker (@brianbakers) on Jul 7, 2016 at 4:05am PDT Ol’ Leatherwalnutface Baker decided to take the piss, uploading the flyer to Instagram with the caption “I’m going to stop these people every time I see them today and tell them how much their band sucks”, prompting BMTH frontman Oli Sykes to chime in with the following: “You should of I could have asked you why you’ve been…playing under us you sorry old wrinkly bastard. P.s saw you a couple of times & you said nada. Willy Woofter.” As if Willy Woofter isn’t the funniest call in the history of man, drummer Matt Nicholls topped it off with the undeniably sassy: ”Hahah I can’t imagine being as old as you are and still acting like a 14 year old girl. Saw you at least 10 times and you didn’t bat an eye lid. You got bigger things to worry about nowadays anyway, like ya pension, or cold weather. Dickhead.” To be fair, I’m both a BR and a BMTH fan,... read more

AS PARADISE FALLS Tease New Guitarist/Vocalist, World Asks ‘Literally Who?!’

Brisbane deathcore outfit As Paradise Falls are today giving the world peer into the record. Late 2015 saw them travel to Thailand to lay down what would become their follow-up record to their EP “Save Yourself”. What followed was heartbreaking to the say the least – their friend and brother in music, Glen Barrie, passed away unexpectedly, and without warning in his sleep. All of Glen’s work on the record remains as he played it. ‘Digital Ritual’ is the first track to be released from this new record. It is unusual for the band – it’s a definite shakeup in style and also in that is a very short instrumental track. In another shift for the Brisbane 5-piece, they have also recently had a change of vocalist and guitarist. This new track comes with a film clip created by Third Eye Visuals and it gives punters a sneak, albeit covert look into who their new vocalist and guitarist are… can you tell who it... read more
SUICIDE SILENCE Announce Australian Tour

SUICIDE SILENCE Announce Australian Tour

Straighten that fringe, bust out your sister’s skinny jeans, and dust off your MySpace to rawr at ya biffle, because deathcore legends SUICIDE SILENCE will be making their way Down Under for the first time since their 2014 tour of our fine, dropbear-infested country. Suicide Silence floored festival fans here back in 2014 with punters picking their collective jaws up of the floor at the sheer intensity of their set as the quintet laid waste to the crowd. They then followed it up with their first ever Australian Chart debut, hitting the chart at #30 with their latest album You Can’t Stop Me, and coming in 3rd highest spot worldwide. You Can’t Stop Me served as a simultaneous introduction to vocalist Hernan “Eddie” Hermida, as well as a celebration of the brotherhood the band shared with Hermida’s fallen predecessor, the late king of the emo kids Mitch Lucker, while their formidable revamped sound made it clear that Suicide Silence’s resurrection was complete. Tickets for the tour will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 5th July 2016 via Destroy All Lines, with special VIP Packages also on sale (featuring meet & greets, tour posters, tour t-shirts, and VIP laminates). THE COMFORT Drop Sizzling Banger ‘Everstone’, Can Finally Evolve

THE COMFORT Drop Sizzling Banger ‘Everstone’, Can Finally Evolve

Brisbane duo The Comfort have released the first single from their upcoming EP, Love, which is due for release on the 16th of September. It is available for pre-order HERE, with which you will receive a digital download of ‘Everstone’ as a bonus. This track shows a slight departure from their previous works, mostly ditching the screams for a much-improved focus on killer hooks. According to guitarist/vocalist Liam Holmes: “Everstone is a song about growth and change, and intertwined with past relationships, its also a good starting point for the the rest of our next release, Love, where we did everything we wanted to do and weren’t worried about it not fitting in with our past material or assumptions of our band, its a new era for us and we couldn’t be more excited to show everyone the real Comfort. “There is nobody who is so enlightened that they don’t need to work on themselves.” – Terence McKenna” Everstone will be available on Spotify Friday 1 July, and The Comfort are embarking on a tour in support of Everstone in July visiting Canberra 22/7, Melbourne 23/7, Sydney 24/7 and ending in Brisbane on... read more

Brent Hinds Reveals Details On New Bee-Gees Flavoured MASTODON Album

MASTODON guitarist/vocalist and possible viking Brent Hinds has revealed some details about the band’s forthcoming seventh studio album, stating it’s likely to be a double-album featuring one side written solely by himself, and another written by bandmates Troy Sanders, Bill Kelliher, and Brann Dailor. The absolute madman also spoke of his custom Flying V guitar (lel) in the recent interview with Guitar World. ”It’s shaping up to be a double album. One is an album I wrote myself, and recorded with (drummer) Brann Dailor and (bassist/vocalist) Troy [Sanders] during the Once More Round the Sun sessions. My part is called Cold Dark Place, and it has to do with a nasty breakup that I went through. I wrote some pretty dark, beautiful, spooky, funky, ethereal, melancholy music, which also sounds like the Bee Gees a little bit.”…”The other guys are writing another album, which I haven’t even heard yet so I can’t tell you what it sounds like. But I’ll come in to give some noodle-y leads here and there. And for sure I’ll be recording with my new signature Flying V.” Aside from smashing out new material with Mastodon, Hinds has been busy with his side-project ‘supergroup’ Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, who announced their debut album will be released later this year. GTO features members from Alice In Chains, The Mars Volta and The Dillinger Escape... read more

IN HEARTS WAKE Frontman Jake Taylor Beefs With Seccy, Still Loves Nature (Probably)

Captain Planet Jake Taylor, frontman of kalecore Byron Bay locals IN HEARTS WAKE, has been videoed intervening in an altercation between a fan of the band and some shitcunt security guard during a recent performance on the Vans Warped Tour (video embedded below). The video, originally shared from another fan’s Instagram account, shows the vocalist verbally lambasting the aforementioned security guard, who can be seen attempting to choke out the concert-goer like he thinks he’s the recently-deceased Kimbo Slice or some shit (RIPeroni). It is not known whether the victim, who was allegedly blue in the face and mouthing “I can’t breathe”, was being attacked after having committed some sort of offensive indiscretion, or participating in voluntary asphyxiation and actually mouthing “please kill me”. Because In Hearts Wake suck. A full statement from Jake Taylor regarding the event can be read below: “Security guards are 99.9% helpful but it disgusted us to witness the 0.1% at Warped Tour in Dallas, (a local security guard not an official Warped security) who was built like ‘Duke Nukem’ restrain and choke a fan in the crowd for ‘moving towards the barrier’. His head was literally turning blue and all we could read on his lips were ‘I can’t breathe’. It was completely unnecessary, we did our best to intervene, pulling on his arm to try allow air in whilst every other guard just stood back. If you’re a security guard reading this you need to understand that this is a metal show, not a UFC death match. And if you’re in the mosh enjoy yourself and be respectful but you also need... read more
INCENTIVES Share New Video, Announce Tour

INCENTIVES Share New Video, Announce Tour

Melbourne lads Incentives have shared a new video for track ‘Better Off’ ahead of the release of their new EP Dusk (out June 30). The clip was apparently a bit difficult to pull off, and the band even caught the local constabulary’s attention with their set-up: “We were in this pine forest, in the middle of the night and it was fenced off (private property) as it was connected to a reservoir. We’d gotten half way through shooting, so all the narrative stuff was done but no live shots. We were about to set up for live shots when we saw the police lights in the distance. They came over and told us they’d received some calls and that we needed to move along. The police had to walk through all the Blair Witch kind of stuff we had set up along the path, which would have been good fun for them. No one was arrested (unfortunately) but they took all our details. So then obviously we couldn’t go back there. A couple of nights later we had one free night to do everything and started shooting at about 2am!” Incentives will release their forthcoming EP Dusk next Thursday, and plan on hitting the road alongside Coves and Diamond Construct shortly after that. The tour poster, dates, and the ‘Better Off’ clip can be viewed below. Friday 29 July – Brisbane, QLD Phoenix Arts Theatre – All Ages Saturday 30 July – Newcastle, NSW The Small Ballroom – All Ages Sunday 31 July – Wollongong, NSW Rad Bar – All Ages Saturday 6 August – Melbourne, VIC Wrangler Studios... read more
Pedestrian.TV Exposes Gender Inequality In Unify: The Gathering

Pedestrian.TV Exposes Gender Inequality In Unify: The Gathering

As we reported earlier today, Unify: A Heavy Music Gathering announced the official lineup for the 2017 event, due to be held in Tarwin Meadows, Gippsland in January. The god-tier lineup features Alexisonfire, Violent Soho, Northlane, Letlive, Ocean Grove and Counterparts, just to name a few, and the overwhelming majority of punters every understandly delighted with the news. However, very regressive progressive arts and culture rag Pedestrian.tv has highlighted a tragic injustice with the Unify: The Gathering lineup, slamming the festival for being a complete “sausage fest” – with only two female human women included in the entire lineup of 26 bands. ”Those 26 bands consist of, in total, 119 band members who will be gracing the stage across the course of the festival. Of those 119 musicians, 117 are male. Only 2 are female. Two bands out of twenty-six in total – Saviour from Perth, and Drown This City from Melbourne – feature women. That is, not to be too blunt about things, not a great look. Sure, it’s a reflection on heavy music in general, which historically suffers from a penis-heavy presence. But without the support and promotion of female artists by huge, visible festivals like this one, it’s a thing that’s simply never going to bloody change with any great meaning”….”But regardless, a performer’s ratio of 117:2? Unify could do better. Much, much better.” We’re extremely lucky to have very regressive progressive publications such as Pedestrian.tv to focus on the really important issues of today. As the author elegantly states, it comes down to an issue of penis. Or, in this case – penisia (the collective... read more
ELM STREET Release Lyric Video For ‘Kiss The Canvas’, New Album Out This Friday!

ELM STREET Release Lyric Video For ‘Kiss The Canvas’, New Album Out This Friday!

It’s a running dead meme in IPHYB’s Music Discussion group on Facebook (feel free to join) that metal is for bald, thanks to a typo from the late-great Big Carl Davis. As much as the group disagrees with what I’m about to say, there are plenty of quality traditional metal acts that don’t suck, and Australia is actually a place with plenty of good traditional metal bands. One of the bigger names leading the pack is Melbourne’s Elm Street, who are signed to German label Massacre Records and have done numerous successful European tours, both as a headliner and supporting the likes of Iced Earth and Warbringer. This Friday sees the release of their brand new album Knock ‘Em Out… With A Metal Fist!, the follow-up to their Heart Racer EP from last year, and their debut album Barbed Wire Metal in 2011. To get everyone prepared, Elm Street have released one of the more interesting lyric videos that exist for a new song titled ‘Kiss The Canvas’. Throughout the video, we see brilliant video edits of the bands live promos and album artwork, lyrics being shown as patches on the band members’ jackets, and even an Elm Street fighting arcade game. This video was brilliantly done, and big-ups to Mihaszna Film for their work on it. Check out the video below. Knock ‘Em Out… With A Metal Fist! will be available digitally and physically this Friday through Massacre Records in Europe, and Firestarter Distribution in Australia. Australian fans can pre-order the album physically through JB Hi-Fi... read more
