After leaving all potential attendees in the dark on which members of the Clan would be attending for their upcoming East Coast Australian tour, amidst hundreds of customer threats to hold off buying tickets until the line-up had been annouced; promoters Beyond The Valley have moved the Sydney show of the tour from Allphones Arena to the much smaller Hordern Pavillion.
Citing the ‘remoteness’ of Allphones Arena (a five minute walk from Olympic Park Station with trains arriving every ten minutes) as the reason for the venue change less than one week from the first date of the tour, the folks at Beyond The Valley have somehow convinced themselves that Randwick’s Hordern Pavillion (only accessible by car or bus) is much more convenient for everybody, save for the handful of now angry punters travelling to Sydney for the show who have booked accommodation near Allphones Arena.
Of course, the likelihood that Beyond The Valley are so concerned with the convenience of transportation for punters that they’d be willing to cancel their booking with a 21,000 capacity venue in favour of an equally inconvenient 5,500 capacity venue mere days before a show seems incredibly low. It’s far more likely that through a combination of god awful marketing and an overambitious venue size, Wu Tang Clan have sold nowhere near as many tickets as expected.
