A.J. McLean (the one with the awesome facial hair and the glasses) told Rolling Stone about the upcoming 20 year anniversary of Backstreet Boys‘s debut album (Backstreet Boys) and their plans to celebrate with the Spice Girls, who are also celebrating their 20 year anniversary of their debut album Spice.
“The Spice Girls tour has been this idea bouncing around for the past year and a half, and it’s something we’re still talking about.”
Nick Carter (the blonde one every girl/guy had a crush on) followed up by telling E! Online he might have been the mastermind behind this idea, tweeting Mel B (a.k.a. Scary Spice) in the process.
“There were talks in the past about it and we had done the New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys tour in the past. I think this would be that last hurrah – the two big groups from the late 90’s. Maybe do a world tour, stadiums, stuff like that and do a package together. It’s just an idea.”
It’s pretty unbelievable that it has been 20 years since these two groups started out and became the biggest obsession of the 90’s.
If this tour happens, I will get very, very excited (sorry Thall).
