Long Island kings of antipathy Stray From The Path have released a new single ‘First World Problem Child’ from their upcoming sixth record Subliminal Criminals.
Set to be released on August 14 through Sumerian Records, Subliminal Criminals shows a further push into the politically-aggressive lyrical direction present on their previous five records, dating back to 2002.
SFTP have copped much criticism for their obviously outspoken lyrical content in the past. Thematically it’s understandable, coming from New York and being very much included in the post 9/11 generation. Hardcore has always been known for the straightforward and considerably leftist doctrine, and one could argue that while meaningful, Hardcore is generally a liberalist’s game, and by design will be aggressive, outspoken and slightly biased to the plight of the common man.
That being said, one could also argue there’s an undeniable Rage Against The Machine fanboy element at the root of SFTP’s music.
