Prince Rogers Nelson, better known as PRINCE, has died overnight aged 57.
The man best known for his hits Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Kiss, and 1999, was found unresponsive in a lift at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota overnight.
Paramedics were called and attempted to apply CPR, but the man who once changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol could not be revived.
Prince had also been rushed to hospital last week after diverting diverting his plane to Illinois owing to flu-like symptoms last week, saying upon release his fans should “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”
A prolific songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Prince was well known for his spectacular live performances and covers, notably attempting to have footage of him covering Radiohead’s Creep at Coachella in 2008 removed from YouTube, with the band and their record label stepping in to allow permission for it to remain on the streaming site.
Rest in peace, you absolute madman.
I Probably Hate Your Band is a shitty website full of asshole writers. We do nothing but destroy the hopes and dreams of young bands, and have never offered a single positive thing to the world. /Sarcasm
