AGAINST ME! Release New Video

American rock group Against Me! have released a new video for their track ‘333’, taken from the forthcoming (and highly anticipated) album Shape Shift With Me. Directed by actress Ione Skye (Four Rooms, Wayne’s World) and starring close friend Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is The New Black), the clip centres on a relationship in the 1960s where a housewife is lowkey scared of her husband but also loves him, I guess. It’s a pretty video, that’s for sure, and the song is catchy too. Released on Against Me!’s label Total Treble (via Cooking Vinyl Australia), the video follows on from the band’s previous and critically acclaimed studio album Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace also recently announced the release of her memoir titled TRANNY: Confessions Of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout. It will be available on November 15 through Hachette Books, so be sure to keep an eye out for it. Shape Shift With Me will be Against Me!’s seventh full length album. You can watch the clip for ‘333’... read more

PIXIES To Tour Australia in 2017

American alt-rock legends Pixies are returning to Australia in March 2017 as part of their Head Carrier tour. The renowned band, who are known to have influenced Radiohead, Nirvana, and the like, will play shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. The band will feature its original members minus Kim Deal, who was replaced on the bass by Paz Lenchatin (formerly from A Perfect Circle) in 2014. Drummer David Lovering has described her as a “joy to be around”, so that’s a good thing I suppose. Pixies are also set to release a new album on September 30 — you’ll probably hear more about that when it happens, but keep an eye out nonetheless. Dates for the Australian tour can be found below, and tickets for Telstra customers will be available for pre-sale on Tuesday August 30th at 11am through til 11am Thursday 1st September. THE COMFORT Release Second Single + Video

Brisbane lads The Comfort have released the second single ‘Your Heart’ off their upcoming EP Love, which is set to be released very soon on September 16th (lmao since when has it almost been September?). The single explores various themes, such as love and intimacy, and the question of commitment. Guitarist and vocalist, Liam Holmes, had this to say about the track: “‘Your Heart’ is about being so infatuated with someone that the felling is indescribable. You can use thousands of metaphors and analogies, but no words come close to pin pointing how and why you love them.” Bassist and fellow vocalist Dom Harper went on to add that the song was somewhat inspired by an E.E. Cummings poem. The accompanying filmclip (released via Dreambound) showcases The Comfort’s passion for their live performances. You can check it out at the bottom of this article. ‘Your Heart’ serves the follow-up single from ‘Everstone’, which the band released earlier this year, and Love follows Ghosts — the band’s 2015... read more
THE IRON EYE Release New Single ‘Just Started’

THE IRON EYE Release New Single ‘Just Started’

Brisbane alternative rock outfit The Iron Eye are releasing a single entitled ‘Just Started’ on Friday the 2nd of September in anticipation of their upcoming EP, Foreign Bodies. Recorded at Melbourne’s The Studios, the EP will be produced by Tom Larkin, and mixed by Samuel K, with a release to be expected sometime between September and November. The single sees the band wearing their influences on their sleeves, which is another of saying it sounds reminiscent of Kasabian or a number of other British acts of the last decade from whom the band has taken pointers. In saying that, however, it definitely remains more invocative of their earlier work than anyone else’s. In celebration of the single’s release, the band will be performing at Brisbane’s Crowbar supporting hard rock duo King of the North. You can check out the poster and the new single below. FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND – BRISBANE CROWBAR SUPPORTING KING OF THE NORTH & W/ SPECIAL GUESTS HOBO MAGIC & SMOKING... read more

METALLICA Release New Song, Announce New Double-Album

METALLICA Release New Song, Announce New Double-Album

The daddies of metal Metallica have finally released their comeback single and announced plans to release a double-album entitled Hardwired…To Self Destruct on November 18. The band have premiered the title track Hardwired, and holy fuck, it sounds like Metallica have finally recaptured some their former glory with a fast, straight-up thrash tune that could have been plucked directly from an album from their 90’s back catalogue, but it’s up for you to decide whether or not that’s a good thing. The general consensus seems to be that, yes, the song is the best thing Metallica have done for about 20 years, however in comparison to what other established metal bands are doing these days it’s probably average at best. Here’s the official press release from the band via Metallica.com. “It really does exist! We know it’s been a long time coming, but today we proudly introduce you to , the long awaited next Metallica studio album that is the follow-up to Death Magnetic! Two discs, nearly 80 minutes of music is coming your way on November 18, 2016… yes, THIS YEAR! Hardwired… represents the next phase of our journey as Metallica and we are so excited to share it with you. If anyone was tuned into radio station 93X in Minneapolis earlier today, you heard the world debut of the first track, ‘Hardwired’ and we’re hoping you’ll hear a lot more of it in the coming days. Produced by Greg Fidelman, along with James and Lars, this is our 11th studio album and is available for pre-order in a variety of configurations including 12 songs on a double... read more

I PREVAIL Share New Video + Release New Album

Detroit post-hardcore natives I Prevail have announced that their debut album, Lifelines, will be released later this year on October 21st (via Fearless Records and Caroline Australia). The band’s frontman, Brian Burkheiser, had this to say on the upcoming record: “’Stuck In Your Head’ is a final send off to a bad relationship […] I had reached my breaking point, and the similarity of a worn and damaged record was all I could compare this relationship to. I had to write about it, but it couldn’t be an emotional break up song. It had to be straightforward, aggressive and in your face. That’s exactly how I felt at the time. You lost me, and you’ll regret it.” I Prevail also shared a new video clip for the song ‘Scars’ (which is also the first track on Lifelines) — you can check it out below, as well as the album artwork and whatnot. Cool bananas. LIFELINES TRACK LISTING: 01 Scars (03:50) 02 Stuck In Your Head (03:36) 03 Lifelines (03:21) 04 Come and Get It (03:01) 05 Chaos (03:32) 06 Alone (03:41) 07 Outcast (03:04) 08 RISE (03:14) 09 Already Dead (02:40) 10 Pull the Plug (03:17) 11 One More Time (03:13) 12 My Heart I Surrender (03:27) 13 Worst Part of Me... read more

THE AGONY SCENE To Reunite, Working On New EP

Mid-00’s metalcore/thrash crossover act The Agony Scene have confirmed rumours of a reformation via their official Facebook page, announcing they’re currently working on material for a new EP due out in the “near future”. The band officially broke up back in 2008 after releasing three full-length albums, their 2003 self-titled, 2005’s The Darkest Red and Get Damned in 2007. They reunited briefly in 2014 for a run of shows across the U.S, and early this week they sparked interest of long-time fans after they updated their profile picture on Facebook. Check out the full statement from The Agony Scene below along with their classic track Scapegoat. “Hello! Firstly, thank you for your continued interest and support. It’s awesome that a picture of trees generates such excitement! Truly appreciated. Now, on to the good stuff. We have been compiling riffs and writing songs for some time and are planning on recording a new EP in the near future. You can count on this new material to be dark, fast and as pissed as anything we have ever recorded! This won’t happen overnight, but trust that we are just as anxious to show you what we’ve been working on as you are to hear it! Again, thank you for your patience and continued support and know that it will pay off! Horns up.... read more

GREEN DAY Release New Song, Announce New Album

Pioneering mainstream punk rockers Green Day have released a new song Bang Bang, taken from their forthcoming 12th studio album Revolution Radio. The new song has a distinctively old-school Green Day feel to it, sounding like something closer to their Nimrod-era days rather than the poop sandwiches the ageing-trio have been serving up for the last few years (look inside your heart, you know it’s true). Revolution Radio is out October 7 via Reprise Records, the same major label the band have been with since their 1994 record Dookie, which is pretty much their last good album (okay, Nimrod was pretty decent I guess). Check out Bang Bang... read more

The band then revealed in 2015 that they’ll be reforming after a run of successful shows in the U.S, however fans had their hopes for a full reformation dashed when guitarist Wade MacNeil announced that while they are getting back together, there were no immediate plans for some new material.
