The departure was announced today via a Facebook post, with the band citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind the decision.
After much deliberation we have decided to part ways with our bassist, Brendan ‘Cygnus’ Brown due to irreconcilable personal differences.
We know this will come as a shock to our fans. Brendan has been a big part of this band for many years, and it’s a decision that has not been taken lightly.
We will still be moving forward with recording our new album in the first half of 2017 as planned, and are looking forward to getting back on the road to perform for you all later this year with a new bassist on board.
Many fans have expressed their sadness at the departure of Brown, praising his melodic and original playing style, feeling the band won’t quite be the same without him.
However, the comments section on the post seem to suggest that there’s a more sinister reason behind the ‘irreconcilable differences’, rather than a disagreement on what direction the band is heading in which is quite often the case when a member exits a band.
While here at IPHYB we’re unable to confirm or deny such accusations, it’s clear that some are perhaps privy to certain information that has been omitted from the original post from Ne Obliviscaris. Whether or not this information is in fact true, or at the very least verifiable, is another matter altogether. So with that, we’ll just let you flogs speculate in the comments section instead.
