Decorated dads of nu-metal KORN (not to be confused with “corn”, the large grain plant originally domesticated by indigenous people of Mexico approximately 10,000 years ago), are set to announce a new record label and producer, departing from their current label Caroline Records.
The band are locked away recording songs for their twelfth studio album, the follow-up to 2013’s The Paradigm Shift, which will be the second to feature long-time guitarist Brian “Head” Welch after he returned to the band as a full-time member in 2013. Welch has reportedly said that the new album will be “the heaviest thing they’ve done”, so perhaps Caroline Records/Universal Music can’t handle the zazzy nu-metal heavy that Korn are ready to unleash later this year.
In an interview with Billboard.com the former Jesus-worshipping goodguy spoke of what it was like to be back with his writing partner, James “Munky” Schaffer.
”The new record just with me and Munky being back together, we’ve had three years to tour and jam together and so we really came together and focused heavily on guitars on this record. So it’s going to be a guitar-heavy Korn record and it sounds, I believe what the true fans have been waiting for for a long time. I just feel like that they’re going to be really satisfied and excited about this album. We are pumped.”
In anticipation of the new album, we’ve posted their classic song Somebody Someone to channel some Issues-flavoured tunes for the new material.
