After close to a week of passing buck, Eventopia have announced that, in line with consumer law, thousands of (now relieved) Soundwave Festival ticket holders will be getting their money back after the 2016 event was cancelled (allegedly due to “poor ticket sales”, but more likely due to poor management and debt).
The announcement came via Eventopia‘s official Facebook page, with the company stating that “the fastest way to receive your refund to Soundwave 2016 or a Soundwave Society membership is to email firstname.lastname@example.org prior to January 31st 2016.“
The initial issue with refunds arose after festival promotor Arash “AJ” Maddah was given an advance take of the ticket sales to pay deposits for artists and equipment hire for the event, before announcing that it would be cancelled and that the ticket money could not be returned to Eventopia due it allegedly having been given to aforementioned artists and equipment hire companies.
